Responsibilities: Reporting to the Children’s Education Program Manager, the Seasonal Program Associate is part of a three-person staff team that coordinates and manages New York Cares’ SAT Prep Program. Last year, 415 volunteers provided 1,050 low-income students with free SAT preparation services through this program. The Program Associate will assist our staff as they recruit and train volunteers for this year’s SAT Prep program, and will help coordinate logistics to launch the program in October 2013. This position is seasonal (July through October) and will average 30-40 hours per week. The hours will include occasional evening and Saturday trainings.
Parental and Community Support Associate (HandsOn Corps - AmeriCorps VISTA)
Program Overview: New York Cares is recruiting four HandsOn Corps members to create and expand educational programming opportunities for students, parents and community members at eight partner schools in targeted high-need neighborhoods in New York City. The Parental and Community Support Associate will focus specifically on creating programming for parents and community members affiliated with the partner schools. They will be expected to connect programming with school and community goals and priorities and to establish strong and lasting relationships with school staff, parents, and teachers to ensure program continuity. AmeriCorps members commit to serve full-time for a year at a nonprofit organization or local government agency.

Community Programs Manager
Reporting to the Director of Community Programs, the Community Programs Manager coordinates, develops, manages and evaluates New York Cares’ volunteer programs for senior and health based organizations. The Manager is responsible for expanding key program areas, identifying the programming needs of agencies and Team Leaders, and sustaining current programming.
Manager, Individual Giving
The Individual Giving Manager reports directly to the Director of Individual and Foundation Giving and Special Events and is part of a small and highly motivated 4-person fundraising team. The role’s primary responsibility is the execution of an Individual Giving program projected to raise $1.3 million of a total departmental goal of $3.5 million in FY14.
Children’s Education Program Manager: SAT and Teen Tutoring Programs
Reporting to the Director of Education Programs, the Children’s Education Program Manager is part of a fourteen-person staff team that coordinates, develops, manages and evaluates New York Cares’ volunteer education programs.
This position manages 40 to 50 ongoing volunteer programs that serve teens in public schools, community centers and transitional housing facilities. The manager’s portfolio focuses on SAT Preparation, English and math enrichment, and general tutoring programs for high school students. The manager is expected to identify new project sites and develop new program models, as well as continually monitor program quality through informal feedback, site visits, surveys and data analysis.
Summer Intern, Community Partner Relations
Reporting to the Community Partner Relations Manager, the Summer Intern will focus primarily on assisting the Community Partner Relations team with ensuring accuracy of information for New York Cares’ 1,300 Community Partners so that more of this information can be shared with our tens of thousands of volunteers and other stakeholders. Interns will also make a difference throughout New York City by posting volunteer referral opportunities and staffing a few Sponsored Service projects throughout the summer.
Summer Intern, Volunteer Relations
Reporting to the Volunteer Relations Manager, the Summer Intern will focus primarily on assisting the Volunteer Relations Department with volunteer recognition. From verification letters to fun events, New York Cares is always striving to find new ways to recognize volunteer service.
The intern will also support various efforts to recognize, strengthen, and expand the New York Cares volunteer base.
Summer Intern, Corporate Service
Reporting to a Corporate Relations Officer, the Corporate Service Intern provides broad-based support to the Corporate Relations Department in the office and during corporate service projects. While staffing corporate service projects, responsibilities may include: leading sub-projects, coordinating supply distribution, coordinating lunch and transportation logistics, serving as an ambassador and advocate for New York Cares’ initiatives, and managing small and large groups of volunteers.
In the office, the Intern will also assist the Department on various administrative tasks, including: data entry and cleanup, maintaining departmental supplies and materials, compiling research on prospective donors, preparing volunteer training manuals, and responding, in writing and by telephone, to program related questions.
Disaster Volunteer Corps (Weekend)

Reporting to the Leadership Development Officer, the Disaster Volunteer Corps is a select, trained, specialized team of volunteers passionate about meeting the needs in the community post-disaster. Project timing and the types of projects will vary widely, but all will meet a critical need in mobilizing volunteers after a disaster.
